on 27 July there was a tragic accident that has taken one of our finest pilots and friends from us.

Erissa Yong-Wilson was a great pilot and an all-around really cool person. She was a great mentor and a fantastic example for aspiring female aviators. She cheerfully volunteered and participated in Abbotsford Flying Club First Flights for Kids events and other activities. Erissa was a champion of the BC Coast 99’s and a founding (and driving) force behind the creation of the British Columbia General Aviation Association (BCGA). She loved to fly and tell everyone about it!

Her passing is a great loss to our flying community. The Abbotsford Flying Club mourns her loss and will miss her joie de vivre.
