Underwater Egress Training
2015-04-11 @ 08:30 - 15:30$295
Once again, Pro Aviation in Langley is offering the Abbotsford Flying Club an opportunity to participate in their Underwater Egress Training in Langley.
This is an extremely worthwhile course to take and was met with rave reviews from those club members who participated two years ago.
The Flight Safety Committee highly recommends that any pilot who flies over any decent distance over water (e.g. Vancouver Island) consider taking this training. It is a life saver.
As an additional bonus, any AFC member who signs up for this course will receive an extra $100 subsidy applied to the course fees from the AFC for course completion.
Naturally everyone is welcome to attend, including spouses, but non-AFC members will pay the full group rate for the course.
This course also qualifies as your two year Transport Canada recurrency requirements and a sticker will be placed in your logbook to validate.
Here are the details:
- Saturday April 11 in Langley at the WC Blair Recreation Centre
- Start time: 8:30
- All day to 3:30
- Group rate: $295 + GST each
- AFC members: $295 + GST each less $100 subsidy from the AFC
To sign up and make arrangements for payment, please contact:
If you are signing up, I would appreciate it if you would drop me a note as well, so I can try to track attendance.
Attached is the course syllabus/instructions to give participants a better idea of what to expect and items to bring for the pool exercises.
More information from Pro Aviation:
During the pool exercises, participants are asked to wear what they would
normally wear in the aircraft. They should bring either a flight suit or
jeans and a sweatshirt, clean footwear, a towel and plastic bag to store the
clothes in afterwards. The pool session starts after lunch so there is no
need to bring pool clothes to the morning session.
We generally break for approximately one hour for lunch. Participants are
responsible for their own lunch and there are numerous restaurants close by
(one block away) like A & W, Quiznos, Panago Pizza, Ricky’s, and a deli at
the IGA Marketplace. We should be finished by roughly 3:30 p.m..
There is also more information on our website: www.proaviation.ca including
a link to the Discovery Channel video over-viewing our course and a “How to
Prepare For Ditching” and a “Passenger Safety” page that gives basic
guidelines and steps people can follow until they are able to take
underwater egress training.
Please note: as many of our courses have wait lists, cancellation notice of
5 (five) business days is required to cancel a course without charge.
Cancellation notice of less than 5 (five) business days prior to the start
of the course or non-attendance will be charged the full course fee unless
we are able to fill the seat. Depending on cancellation circumstances on an
individual basis, we may be able to reschedule to another course date at no
Thanks very much
